* Reboot
* FAX Program or Operator Program (answering machine) - disable and test.
* May imply modem problem.

The port was disconnected by the remote machine. * Modem may be misfunctioning.
* Problem with modem's initialization string

Internal authentication error. * Password error - retype UserID and Password.
* Reboot.
* Delete (*.pwl) files to remove Windows passwords. Use DOS or the Find File feature in Windows to locate and then delete file.
* This can be caused by: "require encrypted password" check in the dialer settings.
650
The Remote access Server is not responding.

* Usually dialing an incorrect number.
* Occurs if the dialing computer does not get either a busy signal or a modem.
* Possible extra entries in Network Control Panel.

* Can be caused if Client for Microsoft Networks is not installed.

Your modem (or other connecting device) is not functioning. Self explanatory.

The line is busy. * Occurs when "*70," is in the dial-up number to disable call waiting when user does not actually have call waiting.
* Check dial-up number.

There is no answer. * Usually dialing an icorrect number.
* Occurs if the dialing computer does not get either a busy signal or a modem.

Cannot detect carrier. * No dial tone - check for dial tone.
* Voice mail from the phone company may cause a studdered dial-tone if there are messages. Clear messages and try again.

Access denied because username and/or password is invalid on the domain. * Password error - retype UserID and Password.

The PPP link control protocol was terminated. Can be caused when "Require Encrypted Password" is selected in Dial-Up Network Connection.
