With Outlook Express open do the following:
1) First we will create a new folder in the Outlook Express Inbox to direct the spam into. Click on File>New>Folder...
2) In the Create Folder window type SPAM for the name of your folder. If you would like to use a different name that is fine.

3) In the window below click on "Inbox" so that your new SPAM folder will be a sub-folder of the Inbox.
4) Click the OK button.
5) A new folder named SPAM should now be listed under your Inbox.

6) Click on Tools > Message Rules > Mail
7) The New Mail Rule window will open.

- Section 1 Select the conditions for your rule: Choose "Where Subject line contains specific words"
- Section 2 Select the Actions for your rule: Choose "Move it to the specified folder"
- Section 3 Rule Description: click on the underlined values to edit it. In this example contains specific words will be underlined. Click on contains specific words and type: SPAM* as shown below - keep in mind the Rules/Filtering Options below.
Rules / Filtering Options
Messages identified as spam by our mail server will have the the following prefixes added to the subject line of the message:
- (SPAM*) indicates a medium accuracy spam message
- (SPAM**) indicates a high accuracy message
Since we identify spam at two accuracy levels you have the choice of setting up message rules for each accuracy level, or a single rule that catches all.
When setting up rules or filters the following options can be considered:
- Catch All: filter for SPAM*
- Just Medium Accuracy: filter for (SPAM*)
- Just High Accuracy: filter for (SPAM**)

8) Then click on specified folder. Navigate to your SPAM folder.

9) Section 4 Name of Rule: Name the rule. For this example we called it "Spam".
10) Your completed New Mail Rule window should look as follows:

11) Click OK. This will take you to the Message Rules Window where your new rule will be summarized. Click OK once again and you are finished.
