Windows 95/98 Dial-Up Networking
Modem Settings

Under the General Tab

Port: your modem port (Windows should assign this automatically when the modem is recognized)

Speaker Volume: this sets the volume of the modem when it is actively dialing. This is a personal preference, but some modem volume is good when troubleshooting to be sure the modem is dialing properly.

Maximum Speed: should be set to one step above the modem speed. If a 56k modem is being used, it should be set to "57600". If a 33.6k modem is being used, it should be set to "38400".

Click on the tab "Connection" at the top to continue.
