DSL Connection with Static IP Addresses

Static IP on a Single Computer with no Router:
* PPPoE EnterNet 300 software is no longer used.
* IP address is assigned to the local computer.
* The computer is on-line when ever it is turned on and connected to the DSL modem. This increases your vulnerability from "hackers". Please consider using personal firewall software if you have a Static IP address and are not using a router.

Click on the Apple in the upper left and then select "System Preferences" from the pulldown menu.

From the System Preferences window double click on the "Network" icon.

Network Control Panel

Configure: choose your Ethernet Device.

Select the "TCP/IP" tab and configure the following:

Configure: choose "Manually"

IP Address: the IP assigned to you by GMA.

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Router: your IP s assigned by GMA with ".1" in the last set of numbers. Ex.: if your assigned IP addess is 192.168.2.200 then your router address is 192.168.2.1

Ethernet Address: will be assigned automatically.

Domain Name Servers:
65.19.68.30
65.19.68.30

Search Domains:
gmavt.net

Click the "Save" button to finish the process.

Reboot your computer and you will be on-line.
