DSL Connection with Static IP Addresses

Static IP on a Single Computer with no Router:
* PPPoE EnterNet 300 software is not used.
* IP address is assigned to the local computer.
* The computer is on-line when ever it is turned on and connected to the DSL modem. This increases your vulnerability from "hackers". Please consider using personal firewall software if you have a Static IP address and are not using a router.

Windows Configuration (with no router)

For static IP addresses, the PPPoE Enternet 300 software is no longer used. It can be uninstalled from Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. To set up one computer for a static IP address, go to Control Panel, Network and double click the TCP/IP for the Network card. Verify the following settings:
IP address: the IP GMA has assigned to the customer
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: assigned IP with .1 in the last set of numbers. Example: 65.19.75.1
DNS Configuration: Enable DNS.
Host Name is the username, Search Domain is gmavt.net
